1. MEMBERSHIP
1.1. You must be age 18 or over to borrow equipment from Elwood Kitchen Library (EKL).
1.2. Prior to borrowing any equipment from the Kitchen Library, you must
a) Complete a Membership Application;
b) Sign the Liability Waiver;
c) Sign this Membership Agreement and Equipment Use Policy; and
d) Have your residence confirmed by a EKL staff member or volunteer
e) Have your identity verified by a EKL staff member or volunteer
Valid forms of identity include a valid government-issued photo ID and a second form of identification that includes a current address.
2. BORROWING AND RETURNING ANY EQUIPMENT FROM THE KITCHEN LIBRARY
2.1. Concession and Regular Members may borrow up to 5 items.
Lover Members may borrow up to 8 items.
2.2. Kitchen equipment may be borrowed for 2 weeks and Zero Waste Packs for 1 week.
2.3. Zero Waste Packs cannot be renewed.
Kitchen equipment can only be renewed once, meaning the total borrow period for kitchen items is a maximum of 4 weeks.
2.4. Elwood Kitchen Library may refuse or limit renewals, based on demand.
2.5. It is your responsibility to return all Equipment you have borrowed thoroughly cleaned and ready for the next person.
2.6. Please ensure that all equipment is used “gently” to avoid scratches or general damage.
2.7. Elwood Kitchen Library will be open for Members to borrow and return all equipment at the times listed on the website https://elwoodkitchenlibrary.myturn.com. These opening hours are subject to change.
2.8. All equipment may only be returned during the Elwood Kitchen Library’s opening hours.
2.9. Online reservations can only be made when items are available
3. SAFE USE OF ALL EQUIPMENT
3.1. By borrowing an item, the Member is certifying that they are capable of using that item in a safe and proper manner.
3.2. Only the Member is authorised to use the borrowed kitchen equipment. The Member must not allow kitchen equipment to be used by any other person.
3.3. The Member agrees that if any borrowed equipment becomes unsafe or in a state of disrepair, they must immediately discontinue use of the equipment and notify the Elwood Kitchen Library of the issue on return, if not earlier.
3.4. If you are unsure about how to use any equipment please read the product manual prior to use.
3.5. Product manuals will be provided by Elwood Kitchen Library for all electrical equipment borrowed and made available on the website https://elwoodkitchenlibrary.myturn.com. Please read the product manual before using the equipment. .

3.7. Usage tips and care information will be provided by Elwood Kitchen Library for various non-electrical equipment when borrowed and made available on the website https://elwoodkitchenlibrary.myturn.com. Please read this documentation before using the equipment.
4. OVERDUE ITEMS
4.1. The Elwood Kitchen Library is a shared resource for the whole community. We ask that you respectfully return items on time, so all may have a chance to borrow them. If an item is returned late, the Member will be responsible for a late fee. For Zero Waste Packs this late fee will be $5 per day for every day the Library is open until the pack is returned. For all other equipment this late fee will be $1 per day for every day the Library is open until the item is returned.
5. MISSING PIECES
5.1. Please ensure all equipment is returned with all the pieces included. Please let EKL staff or volunteers know if any pieces are missing.
6. BROKEN KITCHEN EQUIPMENT
6.1. If equipment is broken or not working properly please tell us so we can fix or retire it.
6.2. The Member agrees that Elwood Kitchen Library is not responsible for any manufacturing defects in quality of workmanship or materials inherent in any borrowed equipment
7. BAD CONDITION
7.1. If equipment is consistently returned in bad condition Elwood Kitchen Library has the right to cancel the Member’s membership
